With so many drivers on Miami-Dade County's roads, the possibility of a serious accident remains ever present. Miami-Dade County firefighters train often for such an eventuality. On Thursday, the members of Recruit Class 144 got to practice with the many extrication tools that will be at their disposal when they graduate from the fire academy in December. These hydraulic tools are quickly deployed on accident scenes to remove doors or the roof of a motor vehicle and free trapped occupants. Metro-Dade Firefighters Local 1403 urges everyone to drive defensively, always the best way to avoid being involved in a traffic crash.
